Realme X
Realme X
Realme has tried to offer flagship features in the price segment of less than Rs 20,000 with Realme X. Popular smartphones like Realme 3 Pro also come in this price segment. With Realme X, the company has given a notch design, pop-up selfie camera and in-display fingerprint sensor at an affordable price.

There are many more good options in the price segment under Rs 20,000 such as Samsung Galaxy M40 (review), Redmi Note 7 Pro (review) and Vivo Z1 Pro (review). In such a situation, Reality X is going to get a tough challenge. Now the thing to see will be whether Realme X will be able to compete with its counterpart handset? Let's know ...

Realme X : Design

Apart from the striking look of Reality X, the design of the handset is also quite attractive, it also looks premium to see. Two color variants of Reality X have been launched Polar White and Space Blue. We have its Space Blue color variant available for review, the thickness of Realme X phone is 9.3 millimeters more but it is not very heavy, its weight is 191 grams.

Realme X : Display

Realme has introduced the exclusive Onion and Garlic finish variants of Realme X in the Chinese market, it is also available in India. Apart from this, there is also Realme X Spider-Man: Far From Home Edition which comes with Spider-Man Theme Case, Special Theme. Reality X has a 6.53-inch full-HD + (1080 x 2340 pixels) OLED display. Realme X aspect ratio is 19.5: 9. It is protected with Gorilla Glass 5.

The bezels around the display are very thin, the border at the bottom is slightly thicker. There is no noch or hole in Reality X, that means you can see the content on full screen. The edges of the display are not curved, but overall Realme X resembles the OnePlus 7 Pro. Realme X colors look vivid and the brightness is also very good due to which you can easily read the content in any light. Our review unit is already equipped with a screen protector.

Realme X : Security and Durability

Reality X has an in-display optical fingerprint sensor for security. It quickly unlocked the Realme X phone, its success rate was good during our review of Realme X. You also get five different animations to choose from. This handset of the Reality brand comes with Face Unlock support.

The front cover of Realme X has a material sapphire glass which is good enough for durability. Apart from this, Realme X phone has a motion-triggered safety mechanism which is capable of detecting that if Realme X phone is falling, the camera module automatically turns off. The shiny back panel of Reality X looks like glass but it is made of polycarbonate .

Realme X  has there are no marks on the back panel and there are no spots in the white color variant. This time the Reality logo has got a place at the bottom of the middle of the Realme X back panel and above this, LED flash and two rear cameras have been given. The bottom of Realme X phone has a headphone jack, USB Type-C port and a single speaker. It is good to see that Realme has also adopted the new USB standard in this latest smartphone.

The SIM tray has got space on the side and only two NANO-SIM cards can be fitted in Realme X. Reality X is the company's first smartphone in which it is not possible to increase the storage with the help of microSD card. In the retail box, you get a hard plastic case, USB Type-C cable, Wook 3.0 fast charger, SIM eject tool and manual for the phone.

Realme X : specification and software

Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor has been used in Realme X, this chipset has also been used in Realme 3 Pro. The Snapdragon 675 processor in this segment is extremely popular if compared to it, Realme X CPU performance is slightly weaker, but it is equipped with better integrated graphics capability.

The price of Realme X starts at Rs 16,999. This price is of 4 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage variant. The 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage model of Realme X phone will be sold for Rs 19,999, we have this variant for review. LPDDR4X RAM is used in Realme X, not only that it comes with UFS 2.1 storage.

Talking about other specifications, Realme X includes dual 4G with VoLTE, support and sensors for dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth version 5, GPS, Glonass and Beidou navigation system. This Realme X phone does not have FM radio. The software is quite up-to-date, Reality X June runs on ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9 Pie with Android security patch.

Realme X interface is exactly the same as we saw recently in Realme 3 Pro. Due to having an OLED panel, you will get an Always-on display when the Realme X phone is on standby. However, Realme X only shows the time, date and missed battery alerts, SMS and call alerts. It does not show notifications of other apps here.

Many apps have been provided in the phone from Realme X, apart from this some third party apps are also pre-installed. As such, Newspoint will keep sending you notifications but you can also uninstall it if you want. Realme X There is also a theme store app to customize wallpapers and icons. The Realme X phone also offers modes such as driving and riding mode which silences the notifications, besides the Motion and gesture shortcuts in the handset.

Realme X has game space which organizes all your games in one place. The unit sent to us for review by Realme X is only Widevine L3 certified but the company says that the retail unit is Widevine L1 certified, which means you will be able to watch videos in Realme X with HD resolution of Netflix and Prime Video without any trouble.

Realme X : performance and battery life

Realme X is a big phone but it is not wide, so the grip is also good while holding the phone. We did not find the body slippery of the Realme X phone, but if you feel the body slippery of Realme X, then you can put the case that comes with the Realme X phone. It is difficult to reach the upper part of the Realme X phone's display with one hand, but if you enable one-hand mode, it reduces the entire interface.

Realme X catches everyone's attention and it fits easily in the hand. The funny thing is that many people consider it to be OnePlus 7 Pro because the design of both handsets on Realme X and OnePlus 7 Pro is very similar.

Despite regular use of Reality X and gaming, the phone run well. The company says that the Realme X phone uses new gel cooling technology that uses copper foil, graphite flex and aluminum alloys to reduce heat. Snapdragon 710 processor gives good gaming performance.

PUBG Mobile was set to high graphics by default and the gameplay was smooth. Asphalt 9: Legends also ran smoothly without any frame drop. Realme X is also very good for media playback. This is Realme's first phone with Dolby Atmos support. It is enabled by default for the lower speaker and cannot be turned off.

However, if you are using headphones, you can turn it off. You can choose between different sound modes or leave it on 'smart' only. The sound comes from the Realme X phone and the sound quality is also good. Both the fingerprint sensor and the Face Unlock feature given in Realme X unlock the phone quickly.

In Realme X you can use the Face Unlock feature in two ways. Either you can wake the screen by pressing the power button so that the camera module pops up or by swiping up on the lock screen. Realme X offers strong battery life even when the camera is used more. In our battery loop test, the 3,765 mAh battery lasted for 14 hours and 28 minutes, which is a good sign.

On the use of video streaming, camera usage, gaming and social apps, the Realme X phone battery supported for a day and a half on a single charge. Phone Wook 3.0 also supports fast charging and the Realme X  phone was charged from 0 to about 93 percent in an hour.

Realme X : Camera

Realme X : Camera

Realme X comes with two rear cameras. There is a 48 megapixel Sony IMX 586 primary sensor with F / 1.7 aperture. It has a 5-megapixel secondary camera with F / 2.4 aperture. The primary sensor uses 4-in-1 pixel binding technology that takes four pixels as one pixel to capture more light and saves a 12-megapixel image in Realme X.

The same sensor has also been used in the Redmi Note 7 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro and the pictures taken from both were good. The main camera of Realme X captures colors and details well while capturing landscape shots in sufficient light. The picture did not lack sharpness either. Realme X works well with HDR and the dynamic range is also good.

In Realme X Chroma Boost button in the viewfinder works to boost colors and brightness when shooting against light. Apart from this you also get 2x button but this is only for digital zoom. Realme X Close-up shots were also very well captured. The color tone is of course a little warm, but the color and detail are well captured.

While shooting with Realme X indoor in artificial light, the detail was captured in close-up shots without any noise. The second sensor of Realme X helps to map the edges of objects, due to which portrait shots look good. Can't adjust background blur but it looks natural. Low-light performance is good.

Pictures taken in the dark showed Realme X a slight lack of sharpness and a little noise was also seen. If you want, you can capture photos with better detail and sharpness using the nightscape mode given in the Realme X phone. It takes a few seconds to capture the picture but the picture is captured with brighter and better detail.

A 16-megapixel front camera has been provided in the Realme X pop-up module for selfie and video calling. It Realme X also uses pixel binding technique when shooting in portrait mode. It Realme X gives 8-megapixel portrait shots but it takes a 16-megapixel picture when taking a normal selfie and shooting at night.

Colors and details were captured well in the selfie captured from Realme X, due to which the picture was good. Brightness and colors were also good in selfie taken from Realme X in low light. If you want, you can add Bokeh effect for selfie but it looks artificial but edge detection is good.

Realme X is capable of shooting up to 4K video but does not have image stabilization. While shooting at 1080 resolution, the Realme X phone automatically stabilizes the video footage. Apart from this, you will also get 960 frames per second mode.

Our decision about Realme X

With Realme X, the company has tried to create an affordable flagship and is a good smartphone. There is no option to increase the storage in the Realme X phone, but this is not a big problem with 128 GB storage. Realme X has been made well and is also good looking. Realme X has a large and vivid display, good software and good cameras.

Realme X has also given a Type-C port in it. It is also possible that its large design may not be liked by everyone, especially when you have small hands. Apart from this, we also liked video stabilization at 4K. Realme X is a great smartphone in the price segment of less than Rs 20,000. It is included in our list along with Samsung Galaxy M40, Vivo Z1 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Earlier Vivo V15 Pro was the most affordable smartphone with in-display fingerprint sensor but now Realme X is available at a lower price than it. If you do not have any problem with its large size, then Realme X has great features and its performance is also good.
